We didn’t leave the MCB domino tournament with a trophy. We left with something we can’t stop thinking about, and it has a date attached: next year.
MCB’s employee domino team has been rebuilding for two years now. As part of the company’s push for inclusion, they invite a special organization to compete every year. Last year it was Pro Bista. This year, FAP was the special guest.
We brought six players in wheelchairs to the table, in three teams of two. Participating companies were Citco, Douane, Centrale Bank, Aqualectra, Pro Bista and MCB itself.

“We only met that same day for the first time, and we still won rounds,” said team captain Rudel Molina. “We even gave out a sapatu!” (In Curaçao, a sapatu means winning a game without letting the other team score a single point.)
But we fell just short of the points we needed for the other rounds.
Douane took first place, Citco second and MCB third. Handing them their prizes was our founder, Alton Paas. He came on his birthday, played a few rounds himself, and spoke about why FAP exists: so that people with neurological conditions and mobility challenges can take part fully in every part of life. That includes the domino table, where a wheelchair makes no difference at all.

Thank you, MCB, for opening the door, and congratulations to all the winners.
As for the final we didn’t reach: consider it unfinished business. A team that came together in one day already gave out a sapatu. Imagine what a year of practice will do. Douane, we’ll see you next year.
